Kenyans have been waiting in anticipation of how the International Criminal Court will rule in the case referred to as the Ocampo 6. The ruling has just been delivered to the defence legal team for communication to their clients.

The 6 Kenyan chaos suspects before The Hague court are Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Former ministers William Ruto, Henry Kosgey, former police chief Hussein Ali, radio broadcaster Joshua Sang and head of civil service Francis Muthaura.

The International Criminal Court verdict is in relation to prominent personalities in Kenya who were named as suspects in post-election violence in 2007 and 2008 by ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo as bearing the biggest responsibility in the violence.

The judges have the courtesy of communicating the ICC ruling to the suspects’ lawyers before they announce their verdict to the world.  The suspects are not required to attend court when the ruling is read but must attend court in person if their cases are confirmed.

Police in Kenya say they have put in place enough measures to ensure law and order regardless of how the ICC ruling goes.
